I received a phone call from a neighbour who lives next door to a previous development I completed 5 years ago. They have advised me that the new fence that was erected between our properties at the time is now (already) rotting and falling down.

The neighbour has tried to get in contact with the business who installed the fence, to no avail. I have not yet tried to contact them but need to know if it is still my responsibility.

I know builder’s insurance covers the development for 7 years but the fence installation was not managed by them.

Am I responsible for following up this issue or is it a matter for the new owners?

Not sure which direction to step next to resolve this issue, if it is indeed my responsibility as the developer and the person who found the contractor.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I no longer own the property, I sold all three units off the plan.

Because I thought I might have had some responsibility as the developer who arranged the tradesman who installed the fence.
