All Topics / Legal & Accounting / seeking clarity – buying residential property in smsf for business purpose
I’ve just been reading the ATO’s advice on what constitutes ‘business real property’ and am seeking some clarification.
My wife & I have an SMSF (company structure) with one investment property in a separate holding company, and are thinking about how we might get into our 2nd IP.
Is there any value in creating a business/company to act as a “property investment business” for our next property(ies)???
As always, I appreciate any advice.
Cheers,
Bruce
Not sure what you mean, but a SMSF can only borrow to invest if the asset is held on trust.
Can you elaborate?
