One change that i found would be usefull would be that when you click on a link it opens in another tab and not in the same tab that your reading. this way you can finish reading and then click on the tab. a

If you hold ctrl and click on the link it will do just this. Or you can right click on the link and select ‘open in new tab’. Super handy if you want to go through the recent posts and open up multiple posts to read through later.

One thing that could maybe be adjusted… the ability to rate your own comment and hence become a ‘5 star’ member. I just tried this to see what it would do and I instantly had a top score. I had to click the dislike button on my own comment so that I didn’t seem desperate haha.
I think a persons rating should only be determined by how other people judge their comments, otherwise I think it will be pretty pointless as everyone will just like their own stuff to counteract and dislikes from people.
Just my opinion anyway. Love the new look site.

    Hi,

    Some replies:

    1. Self rating

Agreed. You should not be allowed to rate your own posts. We’ll get on that.

    2. Links

Currently when posting a link the poster can nominate that the link open in a new window (or not). We are changing that to be hard-coded always open in a new window.

    3. Signatures

I made a post about signatures in this same forum.

No, we are not losing signatures, but we are reformatting the way they are displayed to prevent abuse and to tidy up the way they look. You can see what I have done below under the new formats.

We dumped the old signatures from the old forum as a placeholder, but now have introduced a new system that you can set up and modify through your ‘My Profile’ area (in the blue bar that the very top of the page).

Check it out and have a play around.

Also noticed the email hyperlink does not work, or is it because I’m using Google Apps for Business ;)

Should be a simple mailto tag Colin.

When I clicked it in your signature it opened up Outlook and put your email address in the ‘To’ area.

I’ll get my team to have a look at it though.

What do you think of the new signature styles?

    They look fine to me.

With the email tag it may not work in other formats other than outlook as it didn’t work in mine?

My host is google mail as in gmail BTW and may not work in other popular free emails such as hotmail etc.

We tried to ‘hide’ the email as such to stop bots scraping the forum.

I’m not against returning back to displaying email addresses, but it is an issue that it is not working with gmail.

As I said, I’ll get the team on it and see what can be done.

While I have you, can you take a look at this post for me – it’s finance related:

Without reading through all the pages in this post I just finished 0 -130 (LOVED IT STEVE!).
But the book makes endless mention of registering my copy along with some mentoring program that i cannot seem to find anywhere on this site?

    Hi Ben,

I sold the mentoring program back in 2009 to the coaches who worked for me at that time. You can find them now at http://www.resultsmentoring.com

The link to registering the book can be found on the right hand panel of the home page, but here is the link for easy viewing:
    https://www.propertyinvesting.com/store/0-130-properties-revised/register/.

    Glad you enjoyed the book.

A quick post to let you know that we are still working full time behind the scenes with more upgrades.

Next on the list is a member dashboard to replace the current welcome page after sign in that contains a range of useful information about latest information.

    Hi Steve,

After using the new site for a few months I have to say that ‘visually’ you have nailed it.

I’m still getting my head around the coding used for forum posts, but once accessed, the ability to quote, post youtube clips/images etc, is very effective. My guess is for someone new to the site, or with limited IT skills, contributing in this manner may be a little challenging. Is it possible to produce a ‘HOW TO GUIDE’?? For someone with a little time on their hands, access to ‘snip’ and word – this shouldn’t be too hard a task.

In my opinion the one thing I think your main home page is BEGGING for is… Easy access to more recent posts – not just the 10 that appear on the home page.

At the bottom of Latest to the forum where it says Viewing 10 Topics – 1 through 10 (10 Total) can you possibly change this to 1 through to 50?

During peak times, when new topics are being discussed and added at a rapid pace, forum topics are being ‘lost’ to the forum categories. For someone that is away from the site for a week – having recent threads easily accessible would improve communication with members.

The ultimate goal would be to have a facebook style Rolling Feed.

Thanks again for providing the platform. Without access to the material you and other forum members provide, I would in a very different position to where I am now.
