Hi there,  I have just put in an offer on a property subject to building, finance & pest and due diligence.  I am looking at doing a reno on an existing dwelling and subdividing the block and selling it off.  Does anyone know of a good building inspector in Adelaide?  I've heard that there can be a few dodgy inspectors out there!!  Also should I get a valuation of the property prior to settlement to make sure I am on target and not paying too much? Thanks

    Hi there

    Welcome aboard :-)

No need to arrange your own valuation – the lender that you go with will likely carry out there own.

If you'd like a full valuation carried out for your own peace of mind – just let your finance person know, we can order them upfront.

    Cheers

    Jamie

A broker will be able to assist with upfront valuations.

In regards to a building inspector I recommend the same person to my clients based on positive feedback and a long term relationship.

Most brokers will have a similar arrangement with a reputable building inspector that they can recommend.

If you need a recommendation for a reputable Adelaide Building Inspector then happy to assist in that regards.

    Cheers.

Hi, I assume you've checked with council that the subdivision is possible and that both the existing dwelling and new allotment will meet requirements after set back, private open space and parking requirements. I almost got caught out on similar type of property (reno + subd) recently
