All Topics / General Property / What research tools do you use?
Hi Everyone
I am new to the forum and this is my first post.
I recently started property investing and bought my first property last month
I would like to ask you guys who have been doing this longer than me: What research tools do you use?
I have had a read through the forum and made a list of all the tools people talk/advertise about and there seems to be a lot so I am basically asking what tools do you guys use or can't do without.
All the best
Fred
Hi Fred
There are some stats on this site http://www.sqmresearch.com.au/index.php and check out the reports on this site http://www.domain.com.au/ and individual property info on this site http://www.onthehouse.com.au/

I mostly used onthehouse because it has some very good data about places and companies profiles. Thank you Mr. Andrew for this useful links. Like these posts people came here and get useful information.
I use a lot of different research tools – one of the more common ones I use is this:

Are there any useful apps out there that you guys use? Or is it better to stick with the computer?
Thanks Shahin. Are there any other tools you use that don't offer the same info that house.ksou.cn offers?
Hi,
Does anybody read the magazine "Smart Property Investment Magazine" if so what are there thoughts on it. ( I am thinking about subscribing that is why i ask only $9 for 3 months)
Paul.
I have read Smart Property Investment magazine, haven't read many others so can't compare really. I do like the stats in the back of the mag for an easy go to guide.
I use LandVic when looking at properties in Victoria – I can get stuff like zoning, overlays and even buy the title so I can get the contact details of the owners. I also use councils websites and http://www.abs.gov.au for census data (ie. population, average income, demographics etc etc).
Hi Paul where did you find the magazine for $9 for 3 months? When I checked it was $40 for 6 months (6 magazines).

You can't go wrong for $9 – if you learn a few new things great, if you don't – then you've lost nothing.
Personally, I prefer API mag over the three main investment mags.
