Hi – I have 2 rental properties and my PPR. Just received my insurance renewal and despite my properties all being miles from a flood area, and in no way could any of them flood, the insurance company which is one of the big 4 has decided to almost double my premiums – because my properties, according to their research, flood.

So, where do I start looking for good insurance, i.e property, landlord public liab.

Appreciate any help. Have tried to explain to the phone banker the situation, but they "acknowledge my feelings". Sigh…

Would you mind telling us which suburbs are your properties?

It might prepare some of us for an upcoming bad news…

Just get on the phone and start calling around – there's heaps of companies to choose from.

Get a few quotes, compare their policies and go from there. Check out Terry Scheer, onepath, real insurance….the list goes on.

    Cheers

    Jamie

    Thanks for the reply Jamie.

Have started the ring around – proving quite enlightening.

I guess I was just hoping there was a company that a few (many) members may have dealings with and looking after investors. Could be a market…

    Thanks again.

    Hi Parmalukes,

I use an insurance broker and she does all of the running around for me. Might be worth getting a broker onto the job – will save you time.

Hey Derek – I think you are right. I guess that is their job so they would have the best resources.
