Hello, I am looking for a solicitor or conveyancor in Sydney who is ideally an active property investor. Any firm I looked at so far has completed a lot of property transactions, but I have not been able to find someone who actually invests in property.
Does anyone have a recommendation?

Wiebkeumm can i ask why you need your conveyancer to have personal IP experience???
wouldn’t you rather a conveyancer with plenty of experience in property transactions and legal paperwork ???End of the day, the conveyancer is not going to tell you if it’s a good buy or not…and what you can claim etc..
I can recommend you to a conveyancer who has 1 IP, he wouldn’t call himself an experienced investor…but his a bloody good conveyancer.

Because a property investor is more likely to think along the lines that I am thinking. If I want to buy a reno property for example, I would like someone to work for me to get clauses like access for tradies etc into the contract. I heard a solicitor talk about contracts and clauses before and he has managed to negotiate a lot of clauses for his clients that are not necessarily common. Unfortunately, he is in QLD.
I have previously worked with two solicitors and was not impressed. Had I listened to either one of them, I would have let go of a good purchase.
Michael, what's your criteria to consider someone a bloody good conveyancer?

Have to agree with Michael i am not sure why you would need a Solicitor / conveyancer to own a dozen or more IP's to act for you.
I would rather deal with someone who can convey the clauses you want on paper to the other side irrespective of whether he/ she has ever purchased one.Slightly different when dealing with a Mortgage Broker or Banker. I for one wouldnt deal with a Bank / Broker where they were offering my adice on how to structure my investment loans yet didnt own an IP or 3 themselves.

I am a solicitor based in Sydney CBD and have purchased a few properties of my own over the years, and sold.
None of my law clients have ever asked me if I am an investor or not. I don't know if it really matters too much, especially in regards to adding clauses to a contract.
I am overseas in japan at the moment so amd not available for any conveyancing work but will be back in a few weeks.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I personally don't see a difference between the different areas of expertise, being it accountant, mortgage broker or solicitor, and would like to find with experts in each area who are investors themselves.
My previous solicitor always returned my calls and explained everything to me in detail. I still don't feel that I got the best advice from them.
In the interim, Michael, I'd appriciate your recommendation as I need someone for a current deal?
