    Hi Steve,

Just noticed recently that there is a new feature on the website that gives you points and awards etc.

I was wondering if there is any incentive to levelling-up? As in seminar information, cool gadgets like the calculator you sent out a few months ago and such.

I like how it is a good method to promote forum use though!

    Cheers,

I was wondering that too as I have 6 'rewards' but no idea what they are!

The website definitely feels more interactive with the moving Activity Feed and challenges to be done. I'm just hoping the forums don't get spammed by people posting just for the sake of it as a way to get points and unlock achievements etc.

Excellent job on such a smooth implementation but would be good to have some sort of explanation for it…

    Regards,
    Derek

    Hi guys,

Glad you have noticed the recent changes. At the moment the awards, points and increase in interactivity is being trialled. We'll be implementing a fairer point system and more awards as we determine the best way forward, and of course after getting feedback from you guys

Once we've implemented a fair system we'll be looking at offering incentives to reward users with. This will range from simply increasing your reputation in the community to actually receiving prizes (which are still being determined).

Derek – We definitely understand your concern over spam. The idea of the system will be to encourage users to contribute quality content. We will have measures to remove methods and any incentive to try and game the system in the first place.

For the rare occasions where someone slips through, it will be simple to remove any ill-gotten gains

    Cheers,
    David

Thanks David – sounds like a good idea! Look forward to seeing it fully rolled out.

Can I ask what this forum software is? I've actually worked with online communities for 8 years and do so for a living, but this isn't one I've come across. I'm impressed so far.. and look forward to contributing more as I start my IP journey!

"sticking, holding fast, or attached".  Oh right I've got it now.  It means I have literally liquid nails'd myself to an IP.  Glad I got that figured out !

But who will take the coveted No 1 Spot? Will JacM fend off the advances of Dubstep, or will TerryW run from behind to take the title. Who takes it? Who reigns PI.com………

PS.. David – Umm about your emoticons…… how do I get them back!?!

JacM Millions – they're on ya tail!!

M.Investigator is on a mission.  Plucking old forum topics and commenting on them hehehe.  Perhaps he's aspiring to the number 1 spot !

    Hi Dubsteps,

It's the first time I've heard the saying:

"Walk Softly and carry a big fish"

If you don't mind me asking, what does that mean?

    Cheers,

    Kong

    Hi Kong,

I saw it on a T-shirt at the Bangalow markets ( Byron ) a couple of years ago, and I cracked up laughing at it.

I have tried to find out what it means before but with no luck, but I just did a quick google and found this link and opinion :

I have to admit that there is a great sense of humour amongst our members here.  However, if we could keep the site problems / feedback sub forum threads pretty strictly on topic that would be greatly appreciated. This will help our IT and Admin staff to have quick and easy access to information they may need.  Thanks for your help on this.
