Has anyone here bought 2nd hand windows or doors from demolition/salvage yards?
How does it work fitting second hand windows in? Do you need to get mm exact, or can someone add some timber or similar to surrounds to make it fit? Can you call a glazier to fit a second hand window?
Just had a large shock in prices for glass repairs and was wondering about using 2nd hand instead.
The window itself is 10-15 mm smaller than the opening, architraves.mouldings are then fixed around the window to cover the gaps.
Thanks Scott. Hoping I can avoid replacing the windows altogether and just replace the broken glass panels. fingers crossed!
