How much would I expect to pay for a Structural Engineer’s report on my dilapidated turn of the century home?
Hi Melcane,
It all depends on the quality of report and the scope of investigation. You could expect to pay between $750 and $2000, but it all depends on how big the house is and how much detail you would like in the report.
Cheers,
LukeThanks Luke.
Basically my house is small, single storey 3 bed house made of weird concrete mix in early 1900s.
Report needs to outline extent of structural failures and possible actionI have just requested a quote last week from a structural engineer for a 3 bedroom brick and tile house, built 1969. Issue is, this one is fire-damaged so I imagine his quote of $1495 + GST is higher than usual due to the fire damage and extra structural issues that come with that.
Sure. Thanks. Good luck with that.
Hi Melkane. It really depends on the extent of damage as to how much the report is. If there is no damage and it is in good condition, then the report would be straightforward and shouldn't be too expensive (perhaps $1000). But if there are lots of deefcts and you want a detailed report with repair proceedures, then it could be quite a bit more expensive.
Luke.
Thanks again Luke. Waiting now for an appointment. Seems not everyone is in a hurry these days!
Melkane – just out of interest, how much did u end up being quoted for your report?
I was quoted roughly $500 but waiting for convenient time to book it in.
