    hi everyone
I purchased a property last year and applied for stamp duty concession because it’s for my residential place. However due to work commitment and wanting to be close to newborn baby (instead of spending hours on commuting daily) i rented the place out 8 months later and move to another rental place myself closer to work. had i not falsely assume i would have stayed for another 4 months and suck up the travel time but as much as i wish i could turn back time, i cant.

I was stupidly assuming the stamp duty was the same as FHOG where i only need to live there for 6 months within first 12months however i have just got a letter from OSR with hefty penalty and difference of the stamp duty to fork out.

i am just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this issue and what sort of things we can do to get some leniency from them. i know it’s my own fault but it was such a silly mistake and it’s painful to have to pay so dearly for it :(
