Have recently purchased and completed a reno on a place.  Jumped in feet first but regret not doing a little more homework first.  Reno fantastic but now unsure whether I should have registered as Owner/Builder or not.

Moved two walls (kitchen and bathroom) both of which were non-loadbearing and also changed position of two doorways.  Plumbing also changed position in bathrooms.  Works carried out by licensed plumbers and electricians and each room completion cost less than $5000.  Carpenter did wall pull-out and doorway moves.

Also changed balustrade on upstairs balcony from timber slats to wire and a new handrail.  Two new timber decks placed directly on to ground floor concrete.  Again each cost less than $5000.

    Any advice?

The cost of the works (& definitely the structural work – by definition) would have required a DA and home warranty insurance to be taken out. If you come to sell in the next 7 years you may find that there could be some issues with potential purchasers who do their due dilligence.
