    Hey everyone,

I am doing reno's on my own house to try and lift the equity and am currently looking at putting floorboards in my house but it is a bit of a different situation.  My floor is 200m2, I have 4 different types of flooring, 1 carpet and 3 x different types of tiles.  All carpet and tiles are very out of date and they really need to be changed.  I also have 5 different levels with the biggest jumpin size about 5cm higher.  Just to make things interesting there is 2 x slopes in the ground so if you put a floorboard it would float over the ground!

I just had a quote of $12k for engineered floorboards with some ply put down to try and fix the levels.

    I am wondering if:
you can put recycled concrete to up the level as that is only $17m2
I still need to put down some nice flooring but what?  hardwood flooring? lyno flooring?  The house is a spanish villa type of house so I am trying to keep to those types of feels
where can I get CHEAP flooring? if you look at like a hardlynormal they are $80m2 – this would end my budget.
what are your thoughts on tiling?
and of course again, where can I get cheap supplies (I live on the central coast in NSW).

    Cheers

If you consider putting concrete topping on the floor, you'll need to prep the floor so that the concrete won't go drummy – it will need to be at least 50-75 mm thick, require expansion joints and possibly some reinforcement to prevent/control cracking. You might consider applying a coat of hydropoxy or an epoxy finish or possibly grinding the concrete to expose the aggregate.
