Hello-first time post.
Have recently completed new duplex construction on one title in Airlie Beach area which previously had single dwelling .With regards to rates,Council has advised I’m now up for 2 sewerage charges and 2 garbage collection charges. As well, the general rate has changed(increased) as it is now classified as “Residential community title and flats”
I was under the impression that rates would remain roughly the same being on one title(I’ll wear the extra garbage charge). Can anyone shed some info on this or links. I cannot find any info in my original DA or Council building approval to support this.

By the sounds of it, the dwellings are subdivisible and are now treated as two dwellings ie 2 lots of garbage, rates, land tax, cgt even if they are vacant.
So, pull your finger out, complete the subdivision & start selling or renting.

Already in the process now to subdivide and appreciate the encouragement.
Now searching this site and others for similar experiences with duplex subdivision. already found conflicting views on body corp set up requirements,etc so any additional advice send my way-thanks.
