    Hi All,

I am going to be embarking on my first, hopefully of many, developments in the Melbourne eastern suburb of Ashwood. My first step is to enlist the help of a good draftsman or architect.

I’m looking for the name of a good draftsman who can assist with small dual occ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

In developing property you will need ready access to a whole host of service providers including geotechnical engineers, land surveyors, planners, architectural drafters, structural engineers and some legal advice.

Look for someone who has done what you are proposing to do. They'll understand the ins and outs, will have the contacts, and will hopefully steer you away from potential pitfalls.

And good luck with the project.

I’m doing a shop/apartment development in Ashwood at the moment. The designer is Ron Asling of Studiothreedesign. He has been good at hooking me up with all of the other services required (surveyors etc).He shares a building with a lot of them and they have a little cluster going in Pakenham to service a lot of the new developments out that way. He’s also came along with me to help haggle with Monash Council over planning issues. He is based in Pakenham but will travel to Ashwood. Ph 5941 1258

I am also about to embark on a small development, 2 townhouses, in Bayside Victoria.
I need help. Am at ground zero at this point. Need an honest designer and builder.
    Any help appreciated.
Would love to hook up with anyone else in my position so can share expereinces over
    the phone etc.
How do you choose a good designer and builder?

As ever, you must understand what it is you are trying to achieve, and to the best of your ability, describe this in a business plan for your project. You can then use this plan to communicate your ideas and the feedback you get will in turn help you to refine the plan. If you're not sure about the design then focus your plan on your other strengths. For example you may heave a really clear vision of the profit you wish to generate; this is also a useful starting point. Essentially all decisions will come done to a triangulation of three issues: cost, time, design. You need to prioritise these and get talking to those that can help you to make it happen.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions you think I may be able to help with.
