    Hi All

i have been in my first house now for almost a year in Orange, N.S.W with my first IP a month or 2 away.

I have a very large gum tree right on the gutter line of my front yard it has raised my driveway which in turn has cause very large cracks to form in the year i have lived there it has dropped several limbs and on 1 occasion nearly hit the renderer who was working on my house. its right next to a water main and has many exposed roots all in all its wrecking everything in the vacinity.

i have contacted council in regards to removal only to have it swifty declined they then installed about 2 meters of root barrier to prevent the roots wrecking anymore of my driveway. i spoke with a solicitor who said i havent got much of a leg to stand on.

So with a 10m+ tree about 8 meters from my front door, dropping limbs all over my lawn and on the road surely i have some argument for it to be taken down and replaced with either an of the 2 species of plant which are in the street(the gum tree is the only one) as it is a big risk to me and my wife and everyone who uses the street

has anyone had this or a similar problem like this and what was the outcome?

    cheers Jake

Generally if it is not within 3 m or diseased (you’ll need an arborist’s report or a queen termite & colony) you don’t stand much of a chance.
