    Hi Folks,
just wondering if anyone can explain to me how paying for chemical termite treatment on an IP is classified in terms of a tax deduction for the investment?

i.e. Is it classified as general maintenance/repairs?

    Thanks,
    Emptyvessel

are you maintaining the termite habitat or repairing the damage.

    Are you being funny?

Essentially want to get the house protected to stop any "potential" termites from getting into the house and eating it.

None in there now that we know of. So this is purely proactive maintenance where there is known to be a high risk of termite infestation in the local area as per a pest inspection report.

    termite spray = maintenance
Installation of termite barriers eg reticulation system, graniteguard, ant caps etc = capital works

    (& yes). ;)
