Hi all, I have a couple of questions and would like your opinions.
    1.  I would like to purchase some acreage and a year or two later build my PPOR on this land. would i be able to negatively gear/claim costs on the land prior to building if i was to rent it out for use etc.
Another question is on investing in land generally, if you are unable to negatively gear vacant land, is one's main idea  to absorb the cost/interest etc and hope that the land on sale will exceed the outgoings.
If it has any bearing on the matter, i have an investment property and also have a PPOR.

    tks

Do a search on Steele's case.

You probably couldn't claim the costs associated with the land as you have no intention of making a profit out of it.
