All Topics / Help Needed! / negatively gearing land
Hi all, I have a couple of questions and would like your opinions. Â
1. I would like to purchase some acreage and a year or two later build my PPOR on this land. would i be able to negatively gear/claim costs on the land prior to building if i was to rent it out for use etc. Â
Another question is on investing in land generally, if you are unable to negatively gear vacant land, is one's main idea to absorb the cost/interest etc and hope that the land on sale will exceed the outgoings.
If it has any bearing on the matter, i have an investment property and also have a PPOR.tks
Do a search on Steele's case.
You probably couldn't claim the costs associated with the land as you have no intention of making a profit out of it.
