    Hi all ,
I was wondering if i could get some opinions on what people prefer to buy re brick veneer or weatherboards homes.
I am looking to purchase in the Coburg area of Melbourne and some agents tell me people prefer the old style look
therefore its weatherboard and some people tell me brick veneer is better because of looks and quality ,
can anyone give some advice on the pros and cons of either ,
any feedback or opinions are much appreciated ,
    Regards Mrproperty

    Hi mrproperty

We prefer brick veneer.  It may be an old fashioned "aspirational" issue, i.e. along time ago, workers cottages were weatherboard or fibro and the white collar, "upwardly mobile" suburbs were brick (back then, double brick).  My gut feel is that old idea still lingers.

    Cheers,  Paul

If you are a developer you may prefer weatherboard as it is easier to demolish or move.

A good way to check what people's preferences are is to check out the prices.

    mr

weather board is much easier to renovate and to extend , brick is a cosmetic feature, unless load bearing (double veener)  Hardie tex base sheet rendered gives the same impression as if it was brick.  This product can be added to brick extensions then the dwelling fully rendered you wont know the dirfference. check out  http://www.dougiebuildhomes.com can you tell the difference. The units in carina is all hardietex construction. Cost effective.

    Hope this is helpful.
