    Gooday,

Im an Aussie living and working in South Africa. It is a magnificent country and Cape Town is a jewel in the crown. Actually pound-for-pound it has to be one of the best cities in any land. I sympathise with any Saffs who has had to leave the country for security or other reasons – and those reasons are very legitimate – perhaps Im too new here but it seems a great place to live.

I was thinking of buying a property here, perhaps in Cape Town CBD where I work – for reasons of firstly to live in – and then to have diversification – and you can get a very prestigious property for a fraction of the outlay at home. Typical interest rates are a shock at 10% and this down from their highs. 10% would collapse the Aussie market!

But there is always a risk of the rand fluctuating and also that criminal elements can turn it into a ghetto like the old JoBurg CBD.

I would like to hear from any Saffs or others with experience in Cape Town as to what their experiences have been, particularly in Cape Town and what their views are on the present and potential.

    regards, Horsa
