    Hi all,
I am planning on a career change towards the end of next year that will require RG146 financial planning qualifications. I was wondering does anyone out there have any recommendations (or stay away from) for different companys running this course.
I am based in Brisbane and wish to do the training external/part time. I know there are some cowboys out there when it comes to recognised training organisations so I will be trying to avoid those.

Are there any providers of these courses that are regarded better that the rest?

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Nicholas

    Hi Nicholas

I think the best company to do the RG 146 would be Kaplan.

    They are industry recognised.

    Hi Guys,

Do you know if Kaplan provide the education, and then the students sit an external examination to achieve their qualifications, or do Kaplan do the examination and award students qualifications as well…

I was wondering if it were possible to obtain the study materials from someone who has previously done the course, self study the material, then just sit the exam? Or does it have to be done entirely (at a cost of around $2000) through Kaplan or similiar?

    Cheers.

I think Tribecca merged with Kaplan and then Kaplan merged with the securities institute.

    Hey there!

Kaplan is great, they are well recognised and have been around for ever.  Tibeca took over the securities institute courses, and then merged in with Kaplan, so it's all one bit happy family.

Correspondance is usually the cheapest way to do it, but I've known many people that don't actually finish.

Another alternative is Pinnacle Training – their website is http://www.pinnacle.edu.au.  We've had staff use them as well as Kaplan over the years, they're just as good as each other (but I'm sure they will each argue to the contrary!)

Hope this post isn't too late… I'm a bit of a bulk poster!
