All Topics / Help Needed! / Costs Covered by Tenants and Landlords
Hi All,
Just a quick perspective on this. As I've heard different things and am starting to confuse myself…
Who should be paying for the following costs, a tenant or the landlord:
– Sewage and Parks Services
– Water Usage
– Gas and Electricity UsageProperty is in Brighton East, Victoria.
Cheers,
MiikeIs it a house or a unit?
It is a unit
Cheers,
MiikeMiike, I'm not 100% certain of the vaguaries of the Vic tenancy laws but in NSW the tenant reimburses the cost of water usage (where it is metered) and utlilities like gas, power and phone are connected in the tenant's name. In Qld where metering isn't the norm, then there is no cost recovery of water usage (nor any incentive to save water).
Hi Miike,
My understanding is that:
– Sewage and Parks Services — (paid by Landlord)
– Water Usage — (paid by Tennant however water rates are paid by Landlord)
– Gas and Electricity Usage — ( paid by Tenant)As SNM mentioned, utilities are under the tenants name in VIC
Thanks Guys.
Cheers,
Miike
