    Hi folks,

I'm looking for a good accountant, and well aware I should meet a few and "interview" them to see if they share my goals etc… Just looking for some advice on what is very important to ask, as I have never before hired an accountant (other than ex's stepfather to assist with some tax advice).

I currently own one IP and hoping to expand to 2-5 within this FY. I am an employee and have an ABN which I no longer require for contracting work. Also interested to discuss possible trust or company establishment to purchase IPs under instead of just my name.

I guess I just don't know what sets apart a standard accountant from an excellent accountant who will help me to maximise the benefits of IP. I also don't know what rates to expect to pay for this. I assume I can 'meet and greet' for free??

If anyone does happen to use an accountant in Perth that they highly recommend I am also interested in receiving their contacts.

    Many thanks,
    Emma

Make sure you ask if they charge before the first meeting. One of my friends went out and 'interviewed' a few accountants and received a few bills in the mail from it

Ask for an engagement letter – this clearly sets out what your getting and for how much, in writing. Therefore no suprises!
