My son has bought a property (NSW) and has received the FHBG of $14000. The 12 month period of grace before he has to move into the property will pass before he can actually move in. He is a Teacher currently working and living in a different area of NSW. My question is has anyone sought an extension of this 12 month period from the State Revenue Dept ? If so could you please advise full details. Failure to gain an extention will mean he has to refund the FHSG plus pay Stamp Duty and interest.
I do know that if the applicant has a good enough reason the OST will grant an extension. If your son is on a contract then i think you would have a good chance. There is lots of information on the OST website
thanks
