I have had a general rule with my investing to not buy on a main road. However, I have found a property that is well priced on a main rd that is coastal. The unit has a view of the foreshore and water from the front living area.

What are your thoughts of buying on a main road? Do you think main rd beachfront is ok? What should i consider?

I wouldn't have any hesitation buying a RENTAL on a main road, especially beachfront.  Not sure what is putting you off the idea.

Millions upon millions of people are more than happy to live in noisy main road locations, near train stations, with train tracks right behind their houses, on motorway feeder roads.

Maybe give us some idea about your problem with main roads.

True. My IP is on a busy road during work hours. But the trade off is the tennant can walk 200 meters to a resteraunt or about 800 meters puts them in town for shopping, pubs etc. CBD living i guess.

I have this perception perhaps that a property on a main road has a lower resale value than similar property that is not on the main road? I guess it all depends on the amenities and conveniences that are nearby. Could just be cos i would not like to personally live on a main road.

    Thanks for your opinions.

I've not noticed main roads as having any lower prices than back streets.  Probably your perception because it's not what you'd like.

Ask some rental managers what they think in terms of rentability.

If you like it and are happy with price , grab it.
Main road beach living is unreal and often what people look for. I hate traffic but I lived on a strand for years, it was a great life.
My sister lives on Beaconsfield , St Kilda and I also love dropping in there.

    Cheers

You can't go past Campbell Parade at Bondi either. Although I did pass up a site on the NSW Central coast (heritage listed, waterfront reserve, termite infested, nestled between a train line & the pacific hwy).
