All Topics / Help Needed! / Should I ditch this property?
Hi Guys, I've posted a similar question in a different forum and would like to get a different perspective from this forum.
During my property research I shortlisted a house in collingwood park, qld.
I haven't made an offer or anything. I was browsing through the web and found that an area on this suburb had cracks because of an old mine, and probably the houses weren't built property. I don't know much about this but here's an article that shows the issues.

After finding the street addresses of these properties, I found that my tentative property is about 1km away from it!!! now the question is:
– would a proper inspection ensure that this property is safe if I decide to move on with an offer? Would it be reliable?
– This could be a big bonus to get a discount when negotiations happen. But, is it really worth it?
– Or, should I just avoid future problems with this property and keep looking for other properties in different areas?thanks
If you were 1km from the beach with a failing seawall, would you be as hesitant? The reason I ask is the extent of the mining known (by survey as it relates to your prospective site)? How deep was it? What is shown on the victorian equivalent of the S149 (zoning certificate)?
