All Topics / General Property / Country homes for sale under$50,000: Search techniques?
Believe it or not, there's quite a few house/land packages for sale at under $50,000 in some isolated (and occasionally not so isolated) country towns and areas in Australia. I'm finding several per month via searching on the internet. And they're not "always" unlivable old hovels…….I actually went and inspected one such home in rural NSW that sold the day before I arrived for just $36,000. The owners still let me look at it. It was in reasonably good condition for a 50 year old home.
Does anyone know of any search techniques (internet or otherwise) that can be used to source these types of cheap homes? If I, with my limited skills, can find a few of them per month, I bet if I knew how to better search out these type of properties I'll find a lot more.
I know these properties are out there, but how can I best find them?
Thanks.
PS: I'm hoping any replies will concentrate on efficient methods of locating these properties (which is what the topic is about), and not the reasons "why" anyone would bother looking in the first place.
i guess you could jsut search on the suburb, once you have found it – there could be more in the same area.

is it in a flood zone ?  !!
Jeparit looked good but it recently was floodingplenty of vacant land out there even sub $35k.
I am interested in this, often do searches with that criteria and imagine moving to a weird town somewhere. It could be good, maybe even retire at 30. I imagine many super cheap/remote places don't make it online, but I am purely speculating and assuming a lack of tech savvy people in the areas these places can come up. I imagine local signs stuck in windows/front lawns, shopping centre notice boards etc.
Would like to know if there is a way to tap into these places without using realestate.com.au – can anyone from a remote area shed some light?
Here’s another easy one for tracking down rural homes with a few acres that I’ve been using:
Hi Just be aware that in Victoria the zoning has been changed from Rural Zoning to Farming Zoning FZ this involves anything less than 40 H (100) acres needs a planning permit and also,  BMO ( Bush fire  management Overlay) ,BEWARE  I use this  land services government site its free   http://services.land.vic.gov.au/landchannel/content/addressSearchO to find the zoning very helpful in looking at all property. Several properties I thought were great until I use this site and found out that its floods etc…
