Has anyone information about or had dealings with this company. My husband and I have a meeting with them and I wanted some background on their credability first. Is it a good idea to deal with these sort of companies/

My husband and I are trying to find out about this company too ( RE: Please Help Post). Plenty of people have looked at our question but noone has offered any information about them yet. To me, the offer sounds too good to be true. My husband understands how they want to set things up, but I just can't wrap my head around it. Have you booked for your meeting in Melbourne yet? We had to postpone our trip due to child care issues, however it could be a good thing as now we have a bit of time to try to find out about their company. I will start by saying that I have no prior knowledge of this company but I believe that companies like this exist to service people that are not confident with thier own investment strategies and are looking for guidance to invest and possibly an easy way out. Guidance is great and every new investor needs it but seeking guidance from a company that at the same time iwill be trying to sell thier properties to you could be risky. Bottom line is that companies like this are really out to do one thing and that is make money for themselves first and the cleint second.
Having said that as long as you do the research and do your own due diligence before entreing into an agreement it may just work.
One thing to remember though is that there is always a price to pay when investing in property, what you save in one area will cost you in another i.e. saving time will cost you money, saving money will cost you time.

I have dealt with(and am dealing with) Park Trent properties over the last 9 months. Before I give more detail, you can search for ParkTrent or Park Trent in these posts – you will get some entries from a year or so ago. Anyway, they are a Woollongong based group, have been around for several(20 from memory) years, and my dealings have been reasonably good. I bought a H&L package in Ningi, QLD, the house is under construction currently. Like with these things, do your sums and negotiate. Other than that, they came across as reasonably professional and no dramas up to this stage. Let me know if you need to talk.

Hopefully you have noticed the large proportion of comments listed here have been removed due to questionable content on behalf of Parktrent which should make your decisoin easier. Unfortunately we had unsavoury dealings with this company. We felt that once they had our business and money that we were just another number and there was no customer service. The Office of fair trading NSW also has this company listed on their files and to obtain a more inside into it Google Ron Cross and read some of the articles. Hopefully this will be posted and not removed for Parktrents benefit.

I went to seminar and someone came to see me 3 -4 days later i did feel pressured that i had to go to one of there meeting and get flown there and so on, i am the impulsive one in my relationship so i almost signed on the line but my other half slowed me down and i had time to take a breather.
I have nothing against this style of investment but there is only a certain amount of properties you can negative gear before your income is stretched to its limit.
This wasn't for me but if i can just say don't get caught up in the excitement slow down take a look and work out what will work for you also do you need to spend the few extra hundred dollars to go to there office? shouldn't it be able to be done at you place or over the phone?

Seriously… where is the Freedom of Information?
I am so scared that the moderators in this blog are related to Park Trent Properties…. (but they are of course too afraid to disclose). ?Steve Mcknight is also related with Park Trent?Has anyone checked with Department of Fair Trading? or reported to them?
The posts have been edited due to potentially defamatory content which could provoke legal action. We require that members refrain from posting content that could be reasonably construed as libel (as stated in our terms and conditions).
In most cases this can be avoided by members simply wording their posts more carefully, and by avoiding derogatory remarks. Rather than completely removing the posts, we leave a note so that members realise what happened. It is for your benefit and not ours.
I am very confused about when a moderator steps in. It seems that when an organisation who is subject to negative feedback on this forum complains, then the posts are whipped off very quickly. However, when organisations very unsubtly pretend to be a satisfied customer raving about their services post on this site, those posts get left on.
Companies brazenly try to sell their wares on this site and those posts get left on. Woodysgirl is obviously involved in Parktrent and her post gets left on. (If she isn't then I offer my sincere apologies and assume that the moderators have checked and found that she isn't involved before leaving her post on this site).
Look, when a company pretends to be a satisfied customer posting on this site then that company opens itself up to criticism. If the moderators on this site were a bit more proactive they would find several threads far more 'defamatory" than this one. It seems the moderators only delete posts when the companies involved complain about them. If the moderators want to adhere to the terms and conditions that state that members should refrain from posting libellous content then they should take a more active role on this site and continually monitor and delete all the crap that appears on the forum these days.
It makes me cranky to get on this forum and see all the blatant self promotion by new forumites remaining on the forum while, when a company sets itself up for criticism by misrepresentation (pretenting it is a satisfied customer rather than disclosing that it is actually the owner/employee) responses get deleted very quickly.
Get your act together moderators. Either delete all the rubbish or leave it all on. Seeing the censorship on this site is getting tiresome.

We bought two properties through ParkTrent and neither have been stunning successes. In particular, the latest purchase, of an apartment in Silverwater Resort, VIC, that ParkTrent placed us onto – and they gained much commission from – has failed dismally. The guaranteed rental of over 6% is now less than 2% and falling !! ParkTrent have 'given up' in trying to get the additional rental from the resort management and no concern for the many investors who are now severly out of pocket on a monthly basis.
Overall, don't put all of your eggs in one basket – our DHA property has done much better than ParkTrent and no worries, wished we had bought another DHA property rather than listening to Ron Cross and his Park Trent company staff.
You need to make your own mind up, but I would advise to leave ParkTrent well alone.
