    Hi all,

I'm a new property investor and have just received the Building Inspection Report. I have some major and minor concerns about the property.

Major issue: "movement/subsidence in the front and back brick walls…Collectively the movement along the back brick wall is up to 24mm." I am not sure if this is acceptable or not. For this, I will ask my friend, who is a structural engineer.

But I'm wondering how will I approach this issue in terms of contract / negotiation / etc.?

I am aware that I can terminate the contract by the building inspection date, which is middle of next week. Any "warning" or important thing that I need to consider before I do this?

In case my engineer friend will say that it is acceptable (but will cost money to fix this), is it "normal" to negotiate, e.g. change the purchase price, ask to fix the problems, etc.?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Apana
