Purchasing in a team, units or a duplex

Hello,
How do i go about investing in a team.  3 way team, we have 3rds in a block.

What i am thinking is buying say a duplex x2, or unit x3 just to get more buying power, but seperatly own each one for the different parties.
What are the pitfalls, and such?  If we all have our finance ready is there anything else that i should know, the seller wont care if each contract has a different name on it.???

And the team is full i dont need other investors ATM. thanks
