When I was dong my commerce degree I had to do a business plan for an uni assignment. The most important feature in a business plan is easy to read graphs. So you need to project your expected earnings over a number of years based on an assumption that you will grow your business by xx% per year. You can get a good idea of what needs to go into a business plan by searching the net for business plans to get ideas of what has to go
into a business plan.

With all due respect, why would you want:
“the simplest plan possible” ….?I know some people see the business plan as a step to finance…
but if you are investing don’t you think it’s worth researching as much as possible before entering into it…?For example, I am currently working on a business plan for a manufacturing company… I could finish it in about 2 hours, but look forward to spending more like 100 hours on it.
Remember even if you’re loaning money, it’s still your debt.
I hope this sounds constructive.
Cheers,
Anthony.Try going to your local library and borrowing some books from there. I have just borrowed a couple of books on this subject – The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Business Plans, and Anatomy of a Business Plan and have a couple more on hold.
If you have access to the libraries online search facility do a search on subject Business Plan and see what’s available. Then if you really like the book – look at buying it from there.

The resources are endless. I am currently writing a business plan for a new company I plan to Launch in the next month and simple but to the point is always good as there is no ‘fluff’ that takes away from the purpose of a business plan which is essentially a goals sheet for the company.

Hi there
don’t know what sort of computer you are using but microsoft power point have templates for a business plan that come with the software on the computer.
When I was advising some potential clients who were interested in purchasing a business, I suggested they start by reviewing those templates to put together their business plan – they ended up not purchasing the business BTW
