I have enough land to subdivide into two blocks, problem being my house needs to be moved one metre to be sold as two lots, one with the house the other land. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with moving a house a short distance. My home is 1915 weatherboard on brick piers, the back extention is twenty years old but also weatherboard on brick piers. I actually have the space to move my home two metres towards the fence, leaving enough space for two frontages and two blocks of over 500 squares each. I live on Sydney’s upper north shore.

Yes it is possible to slide a house sideways but it could co$tly
(My guess $20k plus) , probably best to speak direct to a house restumper in your area.

Instead why not reconsider how the lot is to be subdivided. Talk with the Council or a Town Planner as maybe they will allow a “battle axe” driveway to a second house at the rear. It really depends on what the Council rules and laws are in your area, perhaps ask for a copy of the zoning regulations and have a read to see if you can come up with another alternative. A “battle-axe” driveway would probably need to be concreted the whole distance but it may be cheaper than moving your house.
