    HI Guys

Looking for a bit of advice. We own a property and have had plans drawn up to do a subdivision. We knew it could be a difficult block to split when we started. We got a town planner to do the preliminary drawings. We got a surveryor to peg out the site and then got an engineer to do plans to submit to council. Now apparently the engineer requested sewerage diagrams from council which they worked off.

Here lies the problem, council have written to us saying the plan submitted to them does not work as the sewarage plans were old and had incorrect heights on them. They tell me they informed the engineer that he should confirm any heights before submitting plans. The engineer tells me he was never told to confirm the heights and that we should have had a sewer survey anyway. So my argument is why did he continue to draw up plans if he had the incorrect information or was missing some information.

Who’s fault is this, the councils for supplying incorrect info or the engineer for continuing to do the job with the incorrect info. I mean I hired him for his professional services and to me it doesn’t seem very professional. Then he hits us with a bill of $2,900.

    Any thoughts?

It just may be a matter of him taking some levels on site to verify the heights on the existing plan. Many things on plans, especially old plans need to be confirmed on site. You probably just have to wear it my friend, you didnt say how much extra this sewer survey will cost. You could try another enginner to see if he will take over but I doubt they would.
