Hi, I am trying to help out my parents. They have an existing property and would like to build a barn or granny flat cause their house is too big and they would like to rent it to my husband and I who have a big family…..We are wondering.. can we just put a kitchen and bathroom into the existing barn set up (has a few rooms in it already)? Would a kitchen etc.. require a building permit? Or can we get a special barn made up for accommodation on the property… Is it hard to get a permit for these things????They are not dependant on us (as in disabled or fragile) to need looking after but they want their own little place and we wouod buy the property off them and live in the original hourse.. If we cannot do this they might have to sell the property which they dont want as mum grew up there! Is a planning permit hard to come by???P.S we are in VIc in outer metro 10 acres .[inlove]
