Are there any good book on trusts around?
Or even like webpages or anything?

    Hi Dv,

I Have just got a copy of PI.com’s Wealth Guardian. Given your questions and interest, I think you would find it very interesting. I think they are out of stock at the moment, but I am sure they would have a waiting list.

Have a look at Chris Battens site as well as the Knowledge Centre..

My Personal Fave’s (Plus he’s a nice guy) are Dale’s Books Trust Magic and Tax Battles

I enjoyedEd Burtons Book from an Asset Protection view as well (pretty much anything on Trusts is interesting..though Rentons Book is hard slog)

It’s hard to find any down to earth information on Trusts, which explains it in layman’s terms.

As far as I can see it’s a set of rules that apply to an investment and that says how much money you end up getting once the tax it taken. And asset protection if someone sues.

I know they get more complicated for companies and all sorts of situations but for the average Joe surely their is a way to explain it that someone buying a common property or doing a buy/Reno/sell refer to.

I don’t know why someone doesn’t have a web page for us all Investors that has as simple explanation for each one so if you buy a house and do a Reno then a unit trust will make you pay this much tax and trust b). Will make you pay that much tax.

Everyone talks about having to have one and but know one seems to be able to explain them well. I have searched everywhere myself.

Does Dales book say it in accountant jargon?

Get Dale’s book. It is written in a very easy to understand manner.

I just bought a book called ‘Trust Magic’ written by Dale -Gatherum-Goss i think it cost about $110.70 inc postage but it was the best $110 I spent. It gives the full story about trusts in easy to understand language. Only a week before I spent $400 listening to a lawyer give me a run down on a dodgy use of hybrid trusts, but after discussing Dales setup with Hybrid Trusts with an accountant he was very happy with the way Dale G-G had it set up.

The website to get it from is http://www.propertybooks.com and you can also check out dales website http://www.gatherumgoss.com which seems very interesting.

Anyone have a second hand copy of Dale’s Trust Magic they’d like to sell? Can’t seem to find it for much under $100 anywhere.

When it comes to books I rekon second hand is just as good as new.

P.S. bought Melvin & Chans book ‘ How to Legally Reduce Your Tax’ and thought it was really quite a good beginners guide.

I believe that Ed Chan’s book has been outdated by new laws….

    Hi Cata,

In what regard has the book been outdated?

When I read it, I viewed with caution the Property Investor Trust and it’s noted Land Tax Benefits..is this what you’r referring to?

Always interested in reading your thoughts on structures.
