    Hi,

I was wondering if someone could tell me what are the towns in SA and WA that are really growing in terms of population due to the mining boom? Also from the research ive done a lot of people seem to think rockhampton is a good place to invest in terms of CF+. I’ve been to rocky through work (albeit only for two days) and it just looked like any other small town. I know they have a big cattle industry, is there a good potential there for capital growth? Is it a city thats getting bigger? Thanks in advance.

    Gidday,

I’m not about to give all my secrets away……but if you search google on mining western australia….you may come up with something. There are a few towns in WA that are experiencing growth due to the mining industry, some larger than others….but I assure you there are plenty to be found if you dig around.

    good luck

I have numerous properties in both Rocky and Mount Morgan and all i would say i keep buying them if the price is right.

Bought 1 in Feburary for $105K have spent around $30K on it so far and we will list if for $245K within the next couple of weeks.

For Capital Growth and income you cannot go past Rocky for an affordable area in Qld.

    Cheers

    Hi TK,

An article by Terry Ryder in the July ‘Money’ magazine states that “Mt Morgan has Queenslands highest unemployment rate and has shrunk to one quarter of the numbers that lived there during it’s mining heyday.” The article also states “Mt Morgan these days tries to get by on its meatworks, an egg farm and tourism based on its mining heritage.”

In the same article Bunbury, Geraldton and Karratha are mentioned as having had recent outstanding price growth driven by the resource boom.

I have personally had some good cashflow and growth from property in Kalgoorlie.
