All Topics / Help Needed! / Perth Market – How long to sell??
Hi
I recently read that property in Perth is selling on average within 18 days. Im going through a settlement of property and to keep the family home have to sell my investment property[glum]. My ex-partner wants to stipulate in our contract that if the property does not have an offer on it within 6 weeks, that the family home go on the market.Im guessing the way the market is and the property Im talking about is in Victoria Park(6klm) from city that it will go fairly quickly. It is a nice neat 3×1 villa in a great location, currently rented to tennants who are happy to stay for the next few years(this is breaking my heart to sell it).
What advice would others give ?? Would 6 weeks be enough or should I push for 8 weeks, or just threaten to go to family court to sort it all out which would probably start a war when things so far have been amicable(much to my surprise!) but would buy me some time.
Thanks
Lisa[worried]Hi Lisa,
Based on what is currently happening in Perth I would expect that an offer will be put on the table within the 6 week time frame. But (there is always a but) this is dependent upon a market price being asked for initially.
I appreciate the difficulties your personal situation may cause with respect to the disposal of the property – an alternative may be for you and your partner to set a range within which an offer will be deemed acceptable rather than a time frame.
This may take some ‘time pressures’ from the selling process.
