I have bought a place with my parents just to get into the market but more so for the fact that I didn’t want my parents renting for the rest of their lives. Because of their age they wouldn’t have been able to get a place of their own on their own. It’s only been 3 months and I live most of the time at my girlfriends place anyway but that brings about another problem. It’s only fair that I pay towards food and power, etc at my girlfriends place because I’m there most of the time, but I can’t do both (don’t have the money) and I don’t want to just live at my place. I’m 27! I hate the going to and from her place and mine. If I hadn’t bought this place with my parents then my girlfriend and I could buy a fairly nice place but my parents would still be renting. The Question: How do I get out of being so tied up and perhaps still have an investment and my parents still have a place to live in that they can afford? With also being able to contribute towards buying a nice place with my girlfriend. Maybe I’m trying to have my cake and eat it too? [glum2]
