Hello,
Is it true that you have to live in a property for at least 6 months, within the fisrt 12 months of ownership, in order to not have to pay back the fist home owner grant?…. and does that include both the $7g grant + stampduty or just the grant?.Yes Residency requirements state that one of the applicants must reside in the premisis for a minimum of 6 months. And this must commence within 12 months of purchase.
You loose the grant and have to repay the exemption.-Thomas

That website answered all my Q’s.make sure you live in it for 6 months. If you get caught and they do check you will lose the grant and pay something like a $20 000 fine a top of that. Ouch!
out of interest, what checks are normally made ?
has anybody here had any ‘issues’ with this ?
