Hi there everyone! I need some advice regarding my situation.
My husband and I live in Bali with our small children – 4 & 1. We are 37 and 47 and late starters to investing due to a bad business venture. We don’t own any property but I am eager to begin.
I have been looking at regional properties around Tamworth and Dubbo but nothing that equates to the 11 second rule. I was planning to buy something around 130K add extra payments and turn it +ve. My deposit would be 10%.
However, due to our living OS and with a small family I am not in a position to check local papers or do my own groundwork or even to do my own due diligence (have purchased Buyer Beware already). I have also recently read on the forums that regional areas are overpriced and why to buy there if there is no potential for capital growth.
Buying on the coast or in capital cities is out of our price range and I can’t find anything near +ve anyway. Our situation is unsettled due to the terrorist / bird flu / economic climate of Indonesia which could see us coming back to Oz in the next few years.
Therefore my question: do I buy a property around 300K for us in case we come back soon to Oz, it would be -ve, rent it out but not be able to buy anything else; or go with cheaper regional IPs? Or another tactic?
Please advise……
