Hi all, I’m looking at buying a property which I would like to develop, however, it has a tree in the middle of it which I believe is significant. This tree looks like it has had better days and doesn’t look well at all. Could anyone recommend an arborist in SA which may be able to identify plant disease in this tree. Thanks
what do seasoned developers usually do on a site with a significant but sick-looking tree?
1. Obtain an arborist report to remove it?
2. Let it go and keep looking for more property
3. Any other suggestions? We buy properties in Adelaide. No Agent Fees.

phone 0412 437 582It depends where the tree is situated and if you can build around it. You must take into account its critical root zone and how far away you must build.
It depends upon the health of the tree and if you can get a “favourable” report from your arborist.
Sometimes, its just not worth the risk or the bother – move on to the next site.
It also depends upon the council and its vegetation policy.

thanks for the response, I love the phrase “vegetation policy”Know where we could find an arborist that can write up a favourable report? This tree really does look bad, but we dont have a degree in botany, so our opinion counts for nothing!

Hi Mr & Mrs X & Y,
Take a lot of pictures showing tree placement in yard.
Take pictures of trees health condition,
Especially safety concerns.
Take details where drains and power lines in area are etc.
Then go to the local council and ask for their arborist or recommendations.Having done lots of work for several councils here in Sydney I am aware that most councils have an arbourist on their garden patrol or have a contractual arrangement with one.
Most nurseries in the area will be in the same situation.Just check that they are qualified before any work begins.
Make sure that they are covered by insurance and get written confirmation of this with in their quote.S.A. is a little far for me to travel to help sorry.
On the bright side my cleaning business is for sale, which would free up my time to travel.
Other than that I don’t know any arbourists in S.A. sorry.Email [email protected].
Fax new number coming

For all your CLEANING and GARDENING work. Thanks alot they were some helpful tips.[biggrin]
