I own an undeveloped beachfront block of land in Far North Queensland. There is a little foot traffic and someone who mows the lawn monthly. Do I need to get public liability insurance in case someone falls and makes a claim while walking on this (very flat) block? And if so where do i go to get it; AAMI and AMP do not offer this.

    Conduct an impact/probability analysis.
I would say the impact is high, the probability is low.
You can get Public Liability insurance only policies. Try a broker.

    nspeed,

In our current climate, you are mad not to be covered, you can claim it back on tax too.

For peace of mind you should always have liability cover, no matter what the probability is.

    Cheers

    Stranger things have happened Ducketer.
Now lets say he wants to be nasty. He could possibly list
    -Landlord
    -Tennant
    -Property Manager
    -Property Managers Employer
-The guy that services the mower
-The council (if it happened on the footpath)
-The pest man for the green ant bights he recieved.

    You get the point.
    Unlikely yes, but…..

I call it the shotgun approach. List as many as possible in the hope that someone has money easily accessible.
