Just wondering if anyone on the Forums has used Ed Chans Property Investment Trust structure?

    Not yet.
I saw Ed at a seminar a couple of weeks ago, and apart from having potential as a stand up comedian ( if he gives up his day job), he was the highlight of the seminar.

Worth following up in my opinion.

I think they want you to be a client before they give more details on the structure though, is this correct?

I enjoyed the book and checked out the web-site, however, details on the structure were scarce..

I know Ed well and discussed this trust with him in detail last week.

It’s particularly useful for NSW property owners.

He has written an article about trusts which will be published in the November issue of my e-magazine coming out in a week or so.

The trust is specially usueful for proeprty investors with special provisions for land tax and distributing income even before the property is positively geared.

I haven’t seen a trust deed but it has QC approval as a legitimate tax effective document.

    Great, see you all there..

As for the Agenda, it’s pretty easy and laid back.

Its not just “fancy marketing” of something already available from other people is it Michael?

I don’t know. I’m sure they are not the only smart accountants and as I said I have not read the trust deed

It sounds like a unit trust to me.

No I know its not a unit trust. I was explained some of the intricacies over lunch lasat week and it is much fancier than that.

It is possibly based on a unit trust as this is the only way to get arround land tax. If it is there is, not much good for Asset Protection as units have a clear unit value.

It maybe a Hybrid Unit Trust.

According to Ed, its property investing trust, not a disc trust or a HDT or a unit trust.

He says that none of the above are suitable long term, for holding property assets in.
They all have their place, but not for property investing.

I can’t say any more than that, as it would be pure speculation.

Best to email them direct and ask them.
