I have a question in regard to a place I sold recently. The tenant was in arrears at time of settlement and was told by the prop manager to pay up til the day of settlement which he said ok to. On settlement day (which was two days late) she hadn’t received any money from tenant for rent and from what I’ve been told doesn’t answer his phone when she tries to ring. Included in my rent was lawns mowed in which she simply took the amount out of rent and sent me the remainder. What she’s told me is that because I was the owner of the place when the lawns were mowed I’m the one that has to pay up. If this is the case, I’m down in collected rent and money for lawn services too!
I hope somewhere out there can help me out because I don’t want to budge and pay and I’ve mentioned it to her but I’ve got a feeling I’m going to have to eat humble pie….
