    Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here and quite impressed with some of the ideas that are on this site.

I have purchased my first residential IP and I wish to organise for somebody to value all of the fixtures & fittings for depreciation tax deductions.

Where should I look to find somebody? The property is in Ipswich in Qld.

    Thanks,
    Rallygirl

    Thanks guys.
    Rallygirl,
One of my Brisbane guys covers Ipswich for us. Easy.
Send me an e-mail if you like and tell me a bit about the property so I can make sure it’s going to be a worthwhile exercise for you.

Houses built before the 19th of July 1985 have no depreciation allowance on the building itself. You may be able to claim depreciation on the various fittings like carpets, curtains, electrical fittings, furniture and any improvements that have been made since 1985 of a capital upgrade type nature.

Houses built after the 19th of July 1985 may have depreciable fittings and plant just as older houses do but you can also claim a deduction on the building cost of the structure as well.
