Hi I live in Sydney and I want to expand my portfolio to buy some properties in NZ. The problem is I do not have time to go to NZ to view any properties. Is there anyone in NZ who is not a real estate agent (no offence) in the rotorua/invercargill areas who know about investing in properties and have read steve’s books that want to make some cash (nominal amount) by helping me out and viewing properties? also if anyone knows of reputable real estate agents in these areas I would be interested to hear about.
    Thanks

    Hi Dohicky,

We live in Invercargill now and are investing full time. Not quite sure what sort of service you are after but feel free to drop us an email at [email protected].

There are quite a few people on the forum offering full service bird dogging. Sounds like you just want somebody to view properties that you pick. Is that right?

I know everyone is against real estate agents (and often for good reason), but for those unable to get to NZ themselves you can use a Buyers Advocate that specialises in NZ property.

Melbourne based Nigel Kibel is a reputable buyer with a good track history of purchasing NZ property for Australian investors. His web site is http://www.propertyknowhow.com.au

    Hi guys

i don’t know Nigel so i’m not criticizing him or the product he provides, which maybe excellent.

But anyone wanting to buy form a buyers agent would be better to use someone who is either on the ground – like Don and Liz, or has a team on the ground.

    Interesting point Western

I actually travel there frequently and I also have people on the ground. Dont you also buy property in the United States. I was not aware that you lived there.

    Hi Nigel

you are correct i do source properties in the US and i don’t live there.
    i actually made this point

But anyone wanting to buy form a buyers agent would be better to use someone who is either on the ground – like Don and Liz, or has a team on the ground.

So i want to highlight the “team on the ground”.
I offer what we do in the US because i have a team of people on the ground. A team that i have great trust in. A team who has a very high level of expertise that is beyond what people would normally have access to.
I’d be a fool to think that i “know” the market in the cities i’m buying in without the use of a team. I have a team of people who have excellent knowledge of their own areas and i draw them together to provide what i see as an excellent product.
If you were providing properties in NZ without the use of a team on the ground i’d be very worried, as obviously you wouldn’t have a clue what was really happening. Glad to see that you do have a team.
Can you answer me this question
how do you know how much to offer on a property ?

for example With Don and Liz they live in Invercargill they see the prices of properties, they know instantly when a property is undervalued. When i was active in markets in NZ many agents would be asking me what i thought of the prices they were putting on properties. they knew that my knowledge was wider than theirs because i was looking at all of the properties on the market while they really were only seeing their own companies listings.
    regards westan

    Hi Western

I have people on the ground. I recieve reports on New property on a daily bases. Once I have people wanting to purchases we throughly check out the property. I will never buy a property until I have personally seen it. At this point I make an offer.
