Our place will be vacant from tenant later this year. As we have to do up the kitchen and bathroom (very bad condition) we were wondering if we should use this vacancy time to do our town renovations (family members are in trades ie> electrician and plumber) or if we shold get new tenant straight away and get the reno’s done professionally. obviously first option would be cheaper for us. Are there tax implication for our decision? If we do reno and its not rented at the time is it still usable for tax deduction and depreciation?
