1996 Hyundai Excel. The silver fox:) Love the little thing and still looks semi professional one day Black Subaru WRX Sti one day:)
My Goodness, all these wealthy people not spending their cash!!
It sorta makes me feel guilty about buying a new car back in May 09, 50% rebate encouraged me to upgrade. Toytoa camry, touring, cost me 30k.Yes, a car's purpose is to get from point A to point B, and yes, the money is better spent on investing and apreciating assets like property and shares etc. But i believe this is why i have embarked on this journey in the first place. I Invest to create wealth, i want wealth to enjoy the better things in life. and one day…. in the not too distant future…… when my IPs will pay for BMW, i will have one of those.
VW Beetle 1954 model – limited vintage rego.
VW Van – diesel – will go anywhere and do anything!
Mazda 6 2009 – company car with unlimited free fuel!
2 BMW motorbikes – 650 and 1200. For fun.No depreciating assets here!
One day 911 Porche.

I have a similar opinion to yourself, it’s not all about making the money, if you can’t spend some of it what’s the point? I am a car fan though so wouldn’t begrudge spending a little extra to get something like. I also drive almost 2 hours a day to work and back, I want to do it in something comfortable and that I like.
I bought a TRD Aurion 3500S as it ticked the boxes at the time. Good towing capacity, great fuel economy, different to look at and spacious. I also have 3 dirt bikes but they are all going in order for me to save money for my first investment. Geez this saving business is painful!
A 2008 Suzuki Swift… $16500… Very economical…. runs great.
Property: None yet but working on it….
I'm driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Magna, complete with pre-dinted rear bumper, bought at auction in 2006 for 8k. I love it to bits! Huge boot, room for the kids in the backseat, and has no trouble towing the trailer.
My favourite car ever was the car I had in uni. 1975 Holden Gemini, metalic purple paint, you couldn't kill that thing! Even though it was over 20 years old when I got it, the only trouble I ever had with it was when the ignition lock bearings seized – not bad after 20 years use! I miss that gemini sooooo much….2009 BMW X5 (Wife's)
2010 Subaru WRX STi (Mine)Both fantastic to drive.
Bringing this back to life again Dazz:
I've been a bad investing boy and increased the toys.
Now 3 bikes and 12 Cars.
And another property. (Not for parking the cars but for enjoying sunrises and sea views)
I always wondered when this thread would come up again .. and what I would put on it.
Now I'm not going to mention all my cars .. because anyone at RTA can look me up then and put 2 and 2 together.
I have the fast cars and the work cars .. and the collectible cars .. and the gotta have cars.
But the hilarious part? If i really want to show off, I RENT an expensive car.
Because after having a nice expensive car and literally having to create a locked up carspace for it, that just wasnt for me.
So now I drive something nice and almost anonymous. I drive a 2005 Saab for regular use. Its flashy but not too flashy. And because its a work car, I dont mind driving it into the ground.
If I park it .. it doesnt get 'keyed' and it doesnt get parts taken off it. The number of times i had to replace a grille and caps on my Merc because someone had diddled with it were too numerous to mention. And yes .. it had a car alarm. Fat load of good that ever did.
I have however lost the SAAB badge about 3 times. But hey .. its actually reasonably cheap to replace.
I own a small warehouse and have 48 cars over 2 levels. The warehouse is anonymous, the concrete floors are all polished for easy clean and it has a near airtight and dust free environment thanks to a couple of ionisers. All the cars have covers and are taken out for a spin once every 2-3 months. And the warehouse has a mini-6 car garage on the bottom floor for the fun stuff.
As a renovator .. i also love to do restorations and turn semi-ugly cars back into gems. But once renovated I dont like keeping them unless they are special. Its like .. the fun part for me is brushing an ugly duckling into a swan. Once its a swan .. its there for someone else to gain the same degree of enjoyment as I did from it.
I think largely thats my feeling with houses too.
Wow!!!
I would LOVE to have that many cars…… need more moolah!
Driving a HSV Clubsport (luuurve V8's) called Brutus and hubby drives a 370z. Red and yellow. I saw this race deck stuff you can get to create a checkerplate type floor. It was on Vanilla Ice's reno show he did, still thinking about putting down on the floor and painting the garage grey to have the cars relly stand out.
It's great that people are buying toys, all work and no play makes for unhappy people!
Vroom! lol

Email MeI always dreamed of owning a Range Rover, then I sat in one (oldish) and discovered that my XXL frame did not fit comfortably in it. I have short arms and deep pockets so spending big$$ on a new car will never happen. very happy with my 80 series cruiser and toyota Aurion (looks like grandads car, goes like a startled gazelle). Like many others on this thread if I could free up the cash to buy a new car I would spend it on something smarter….
Only motor vehicle I ever made a profit on- I bought a 1950ish international tractor with a seized motor for $50 and by judicious application of heat, oil and brute force got it running again – sold it for $950!
2007 Holden Viva – a small car but does what I need.
I still have my first car! A 2000 Holden VT. Our household just runs on the one car. Looking to upgrade soon but nothing too flashy. We don't wanna forego another property for an asset that depreciates in value so quickly at this time in our acquisition phase. However, one of my husbands dreams is to own a ferrari so hopefully one day we will get to a stage where that is a reality!
Okay had to chime in wife drives a KIA Sportage been paid for years ago. Myself doge ram 2004 but paid for so all good here . Cars seem much cheaper here in the states then what you all pay over seas.

Go as far as you can see and you will see further.
WOW what a time for this thread to come back from the dead!!!
I am actually due for a new car as there is no more depreciation vaule in my camry, also there is somehting that my dad doesnt like.
I am thinking about trading it in for a small car. ( which i probably should have got in the first place)
Looking at the honda Jazz, what does yous think??
trade in for about 14-15k and get it for 17k something like that.
cheaper to run, smaller car. etc.I’m in-between work cars at the moment, just sold my Hilux (’95 Model).
Still have the weekender though – 95 Nissan Skyline R33 GTR. It’s a hobby of mine to work on it and take it to track days on weekends to let off some steam. Have come close to selling it a few times the past few years but couldn’t bare to see it go (also no, I’m not one of those ACA hoons – leave the shenanigans to the track!)
Currently in the market for a newer crew-cab ute, preferably 4×4 and dual fuel. If anyone has something with good towing capacity (can tow the skyline on a tandem trailer) feel free to shoot me a pm
Ford Falcon 2008, bought for $17,000, which was upsetting, as I felt I was throwing away a deposit on another property.
Granted it has served me well, put over 60,000km on it last year.Have seen some people spend serious cash on cars, a colleague of mine just spent $160k on two new cars (all on loan of course). Boggles the mind.
PT Cruiser for trips to the dog park and Nissan Z for everything else.
Cheers

Well Guys and Girls
Mine is a bit boring just a Commodore 2009 bought new due to the Govt incentives at the time. And on which I have clocked up 90,000 Kms in just under 3 years. My 2nd car is a Proton which I won in a competition I didn't known I entered when I put down a deposit on my last Building Project – A big thank you to the Builder for that.
