Hi Likk, we are considering investment in NZ and like you are looking for the right areas. Everyone hasd their own opinions about long term investments us included!!! We talk to agents, surf the net, read the local paper and look at anything we can get our hands on to give a helping hand to make decisions about whether an area is a good long term investment.

    cheers

    Hi Liz

We haven’t had any specific experience with Burnie but suggest you contact the Nelson City Council and get the demographics of the area. Councils are generally fairly helpful.

Be wary of any investments in towns with less than 40,000 people, or that rely on one main industry.

You may also want to discuss this with a New Zealand mortgage broker – there’s a good one in our new book along with a whole host of other tips which revolve around doing your due diligence.

    Happy hunting.
    Regards
    Sigrid

Liz is talking about Burnie, Tasmania – that other island in this part of the world.
