    Hi Francis

Windows 2000 and XP are the only operating system currently supported by ID, although some users have reported sucessfully running ID on Win98.

During my testing, I have encountered too many reliability problems with Win98 to support this OS.

    Dear Philip,

What technologies are used to build ID? What are the problems on Win98? Actually, I am using Win98SE. Does this made any difference?

    Regards,
    Francis

    Hi Francis

ID is written in a language called Delphi, (Object Pascal).

Win98 has very limited resources, unlike W2K and WXP. There are also other compatibility issues to consider when programming for older OS’s (W98 is 6 years old) and as W98 will be de-supported by M$ in the near future (30/06/2006), unfortunatly it is not a productive option to deal with these issues for new development. I have looked into the W98 problems and it is just not fesable to support.

    Dear Philip,

    Thank you for your reply!

Apart from ID, my computer is working smoothly. If it means to spend more $ into this machine, I would rather leave the $ for investment property. I know there are plenty of people still using W98 and are hesitate to change.

    Regards,
    Francis
